How Fast is Fast?

How Fast is Fast

Internet speeds are measured in Kilobits Per Second or Megabits Per Second, these are not the same as the kilobytes and megabytes we use when talking about hard disks and files.

For example: a 5Mb file (size) downloaded on a 56K (speed) connection will take about 12 minutes and 30 seconds, but a 5Mb file downloaded on a 512K broadband connection will take about 1 minute and 30 seconds. This means you can download a 5 minute song MP3 file in less time than it takes to play it!

At WestNet we offer a range of small, medium and large packages that will suit most applications.

Our standard connection is the Residential connection, and is suitable for most home and leisure use. The speed of this connection is 1Mb/s. We also have a Residential Plus connection with speeds of up to 2Mb/s.

At the next level we have a Business connection with speeds of up to 3Mb/s.

Our fastest connection is our Business Plus package, which runs at a symmetrical 3Mb/s, but if you require more bandwidth we may be able to customise a solution to meet your specific needs.
